Definitions:
Timely Warnings are issued when a situation on or near campus constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat to the campus community. The UGA Police Department sends timely warnings through email, through a push notification in the UGA Safe app, and are published here on the police department website.
Community Notifications may be issued to inform the university community about situations that do not meet the criteria for a Timely Warning or Emergency Notification under the Clery Act but are still of interest or concern. Examples include crimes or incidents that occur outside UGA’s Clery geography, as well as incidents that do not qualify as Clery-reportable crimes but may still pose a safety concern for the university community. You can find more information on the Clery Act including Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications [HERE].
