On October 8, 2025 at approximately 10:40 a.m. the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a report of a discharging firearm that occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m. in the area of the East Washington Street and North Thomas Street. Clarke County Sheriff’s Deputy’s reported a black male, wearing a hooded black sweatshirt and gray sweat pants and a black female with braided hair, wearing a gray full zip jacket and red sweat pants were involved. A Clarke County Deputy heard one gunshot in the area and saw the described individuals fleeing the area towards North Thomas Street. An ACCPD officer reported that the male in the hooded black sweatshirt possibly had a handgun under his sweatshirt, possibly black or gray. No injuries have been reported at this time.
